Thrill Seekers – Where to go for Easter Holiday

For many adrenaline junkies, the idea of spending Easter’s weekend in a hotel room or lazing at the beach is quite appalling. A thrilling experience away from the bustling city yet within the country is a quest for many couples.

So, where can adventure-filled love birds spend their Easter’s weekend in Kenya? From doing a safari in the Masai Mara to Sky diving in Diani or climbing the Mount Kenya, here are some destination tips for a fun-filled Valentine’s day .

  • Zip lining

Machakos People's Park Zip Lining

Easily accessible by public means, at only 65 km from Nairobi city is the vibrant Machakos Town. A 300m long zipline is operated in the Machakos People’s Park every Friday to Sunday at  affordable rates. Why not have a picnic afterwards in the park, just the two of you?

  • Rock climbing

Perhaps this is the best activity for your relationship to reach new heights while having fun at the same time. Ideal spot is at Hell’s Gate National Park with incredible rock towers, spectacular scenery, and a variety of wildlife. You can later enjoy the goodness of a natural spa from the belching geothermal steam after a hard day’s work.

  • Mountain Biking

The terrain at Hell’s Gate National Park is a great challenge for mountain biking. Nevertheless, what better way to bond as a couple on Easter’s weekend while discovering the beach between Watamu and Malindi other than riding bicycles? Gede ruins to Vasco da Gama Pillar is a mere 25km and mountain bikes can be hired from local stores or from hotels.

  • Paragliding

Paragliding in Elgeyo Marakwet

Between the Cherangani Hills and the Tugen Hills lies the Kerio Valley; an embodiment of scenic views at 4000 feet (1200m) deep. The elevation on the west side, at 2000m high, makes paragliding for beginners a downhill task. Visitors enjoy views of the wild animals in the Kerio Valley National Reserve and afterwards camp in the reserve.

  • Bungee Jumping

Bungee jumping in Sagana

60 metres above Tana river, you’ll sight Mount Kenya in the distance from Sagana right before the free-fall from the jump cage. A short 2-hour drive from Nairobi direction Nyeri, you’ll arrive at Rapids Camp Sagana from where you’ll experience an adrenaline rush for three hours. You can also partake in white water rafting in the raging River Tana.

Any plans yet for the Easter’s weekend?
